Enterprise Social Software (ESS)
Definition:

Enterprise Social Software is the term for software that makes use of “social profiles” and that provides social media functionality, which gives users the possibility to become authors. A combination of ESS and classical Groupware (e.g. E-Mail, group calendars) can be used to build an ECS. These “socially-enabled ECS” are generating much interest for organisations as they offer great promise for improving and extending an organisation´s information sharing, communication, coordination and interaction capabilities.
