An Enterprise Collaboration System is a software application that supports collaboration in a company. An ECS is a socio-technical system that includes hardware and software as well as people, processes and organisational aspects. ECS can come in different forms. A user company may decide to use an integrated system that provides multiple components under a single interface or it can put together a portfolio, which involves various different components from, in some cases, different manufacturers.
